Senior Engineer/Project Manager in Electrical Power (Low/High Voltage)

The Copenhagen Metro is seeking a Systems Engineer for electrical systems for its driverless metro systems, both existing and future. The Copenhagen metro transports approximately 10 million passengers monthly and plays a crucial role in the city's daily operations.

Job Responsibilities:

In the position, you will work as the company’s electrical expert on different metro projects and projects interfacing to or related to railway systems. In this role, you will need to apply both specialist knowledge within the electrical field as well as project management skills in the projects.

The position relates to the following on-going large-scale projects as wells as operation for M3/M4:

  • The new greenfield M5 metro line
  • Extension of the M4 line to Nordhavn
  • The Copenhagen Light Rail on Ring 3

Role Overview:

We are searching for an experienced engineer with in-depth knowledge of both low- and high-voltage systems as well as experience with EMC to join our Transportation Systems Department of some 25 engineers/technical project managers.

The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience within low-voltage and high-voltage systems in the railway industry, including Earthing systems, EMC and DC traction power.

The ideal candidate will with basis in the extensive experience be able to develop and follow up of specification of requirements, design, installation, test, commissioning in our projects, in cooperations with other colleagues, consultants and contractors

Furthermore, you have capability to evaluate and troubleshoot complex electrical systems and ensure compliance with both industry standards and contractual requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and follow up of specification of requirements, design, reviews, installation, test, and commissioning in our projects.
  • Assist the operation and maintenance departments in electrical issues on existing lines.
  • Ensuring compliance with EMC standards

Systems Knowledge:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of the following systems: High Voltage systems, low voltage systems, traction power systems, earthing and bonding.
  • Demonstrate deep technological and operational knowledge of integrated systems
  • General knowledge of railway systems outside the key area.

Qualifications:

  • Extensive experience in EMC, low voltage, and high voltage systems.
  • Strong background in electrical engineering.
  • Experience with railways systems in general and especially with safety processes and interlocking systems for railways and metro systems.
  • Proficiency in industry standards, particularly the 50121-X and 50122-X series.
  • Ability to assimilate knowledge in diverse disciplines and apply the knowledge effectively

Education and Experience:

  • University degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • 15 years plus proven track record with significant experience in similar roles.
  • Strong competencies in English both in writing and speaking.
  • Fluency in Danish is an advantage

Additional Skills:

  • Systematic and structured approach to tasks and strong analytical skills
  • Project management skills.
  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, including mechanical engineers, software programmers
  • Ability to prioritize and work independently without close supervision
  • Experience in testing and commissioning in an international environment.

The company

The Copenhagen Metro are leading large construction and transportation projects of international scale, with a focus on sustainable public transport for Greater Copenhagen's citizens and visitors. The company is experiencing an exciting and busy period with the above-mentioned large metro projects and the construction and development of the light rail west of Copenhagen.

The appointee will be employed in the Transportation Systems Unit with 27 dedicated technical specialists. The Unit's task is to secure the design and installation of all transportation system parts, i.e., the different signal systems for driverless metro operation. The Unit monitors the delivery from the transportation system suppliers and the fulfilment of requirements. It is active in all phases of the infrastructure projects – analysis, planning, specification of requirements, design, installation, test, commissioning and operation.
