The Marmorkirken metro station is not only located next to the beautiful old church - it is also in the centre of one of Copenhagen's oldest neighbourhoods, where major Copenhagen attractions such as Amalienborg Slotsplads, Langelinie and Kongens Have are within a few minutes' walk.
The area is also home to a number of museums, including the Design Museum Denmark, the David Collection, the Amalienborg Museum and the Medical Museum.
Underground, the walls of the Marmorkirken metro station are clad in sand-coloured limestone panels in a warm, golden colour inspired by the mansions above ground. The sandstone is characterised by containing tiny fossils that are millions of years old - from fossilised sea urchins to octopuses.
A special feature of the metro station under the Marmorkirken is the depth of the station. When you stand on the station's lowest platform, you are 30 metres below ground level.
