Enjoy the autumn colours outdoors
Right now, the city's green parks are changing colour to beautiful shades of orange-red before they let the leaves fall for the year. If you're dreaming of plenty of fresh air, take the Metro to Vestamager and take a walk on Kalvebod Fælled.
Fælleden is one of the only places in Copenhagen where you can experience a large coherent nature area with open expanses and dense scrub, meadows, pastures, bogs and lakes. You can also meet thousands of eagles on their way south, and there's a good chance of seeing white-tailed eagles.

Go chestnut hunting by the Lakes
The lakes in Copenhagen are a brilliant spot if you want to go chestnut picking. Get off the Metro at Trianglen and start at Sortedam Sø, where you'll find large, almost 100-year-old chestnut trees packed with the familiar green spiky balls.
Once you've collected enough of the little brown treasures hiding inside, you can take a walk around one of the lakes - perhaps with a cup of coffee or hot chocolate in hand.

Play board games at Bastard
The board game café Bastard in Huset, close to Gammel Strand, invites you to enjoy indoor cosiness and all the board games you could wish for. There are more than 5860 different board games - from classics like Bezzerwizzer and Backgammon to new games like Sunrise Sunset and Zoo Tycoon.
If you don't know the rules, volunteer game oracles are on hand to help you out. And then it's just a matter of letting the dice roll.

Dream away to the tropics
When it's really hot outside, it's nice to dream away to warmer climes. If you get off the Metro at Nørreport, it's just a short walk to the Botanical Gardens, where you can enjoy the tropical heat in the iconic Palm House.
Explore thousands of exotic and rare plants and enjoy the peace and tranquillity of the green surroundings.

Watch the changing of the guard at Amalienborg
The Royal Life Guards' changing of the guard is always a great experience - also in autumn. Every day, the Guard marches from the barracks at Rosenborg Castle through the streets of Copenhagen to end at Amalienborg, where the changing of the guard takes place at 12 noon. If you get off the Metro at Marmorkirken, it's only a five-minute walk to the castle square.
When the changing of the guard is over, you can complete the experience with a visit to the Amalienborg Museum, where you can experience royal life past and present.

Guide: Where to get exotic White Lotus vibes in Copenhagen
Season 3 of The White Lotus is set in a luxury hotel in Thailand, but you don't have to travel far to get the same feeling. Take the Metro to one of the city's beautiful spa hotels and enjoy the tranquillity for a day.

Get an authentic taste of Thailand close to the Metro
Mmm... pad thai, panang curry and satay. If Thai cuisine makes your teeth water, Copenhagen has plenty of places to eat where it almost feels like you're in Thailand itself.
