1. When does Copenhagen feel most like your city?

"When I bimser down Nørrebrogade and bump into people. I always make sure to walk on the opposite side of the traffic so I can wave hello to the people I know who are whizzing by on the bike path.To me, bimse means walking out the door without a plan or a destination. But it usually just turns into a walk up and down the entire ‘Aorta of Nørrebro,’ as my friend so aptly dubbed Nørrebrogade.”

When I was a kid, I dreamed of being a mermaid, and I guess I still do, really. You can find me at the harbor all summer long. I often switch up my spots, but I especially like the platform down by the Harbor Promenade.

2. What place in the city do you always return to?

"Kødbyen. I’m always complaining that it’s gotten too busy and isn’t a hidden gem anymore, but I do understand why. And even though, for me, the charm of the white factory town is all about having drinks at the beer garden tables where my friends work, I’m not afraid to admit that I’ve also stood in line with the other TikTok tourists to try the hyped-up onigiri."

3. What's your best tip for a unique experience in Copenhagen?

"Unique experiences are more about your mindset than what’s necessarily served to you. Special experiences are hiding everywhere if you dare to look up and make eye contact. Talk to the people sitting next to you on the Metro. Ask your server a question. Sit at the bar at the bodega instead of hiding in the corner. That’s a mindset many people have when they’re traveling. Why not have it in your own city, too?"

With My Copenhagen, we take you on a surprising journey through the city, where well-known Copenhageners share their hidden gems.

4. What hidden gem is almost too good to share?

"Everyone who has lived in Nordvest knows which number is their favorite from Viet Thai. "Mine is No. 53. The small space, filled with fake plants, wooden figurines, and live fish, stands out from so many other take-out spots. But I highly recommend sitting down to eat while looking out onto Frederiksborgvej."

5. Which metro station is your favorite?

"I like Enghave Plads because it's such an integral part of the area. Right in the heart of all the action in Vesterbro, which is an area I love having direct access to via the M3 line."
