As darkness falls over Copenhagen on Friday, October 9, a special evening in the city begins: this year’s Culture Night.
From 6:00 p.m. to midnight, hundreds of museums, theaters, churches, castles, and cultural centers will open their doors, inviting both children and adults to explore the hidden treasures behind their beautiful, illuminated facades.
We’ve put together five experiences you won’t want to miss—and where you can take the Metro right to the door.
Experience light and sound at Christiansborg Palace Church
During Culture Night, you can visit a wealth of historic buildings, among other things, that open their doors especially for guests on this one evening. One of them is Christiansborg Palace Church—two minutes from Gammel Strand.
Step into the church’s beautifully lit interior and enjoy DJ Kasper Bjørke’s atmospheric electronic sounds, which create a space for tranquility and contemplation in the church’s unique atmosphere.

Test your creative instinct
If you take the Metro to Trianglen, you can stroll over to Skolen for Skabertrang, which has opened the doors to its creative workshops.
Both children and adults are welcome to let their creativity run wild and make their own masks, paint, draw, and try their hand at sound production.

Go behind the scenes at DR
If you take the Metro to DR Byen, you’re guaranteed entertainment all evening long.
For example, you can visit the studio where they film TV-Avisen and Deadline, take part in a quiz with Clement, and see treasures, furniture, and trinkets from TV shows, series, and movies at DR Rekvisitten.
For the little ones, there’s a chance to get a sneak peek at the premiere episode of DR’s new Christmas calendar, “Den store julefortælling,” meet Mr. Skæg, and dance the night away at “MGP Silent Disco.”

"Da jeg gik ud over Langebro"
Most people know Kim Larsen’s song about Langebro, but have you ever seen this iconic bridge up close?
During Culture Night, you can take the Metro to Christianshavn and walk along the waterfront to the bridge, which is a little time capsule from the 1950s. Explore the 70-year-old engine room and enjoy the view of Copenhagen from the bridge tower.

Evening swim by candlelight
If your tired feet from a night out need a little pampering, take the Metro to Aksel Møllers Have, where Frederiksberg Badene offers an atmospheric swim.
Experience the swimming pool in a new way with soft music and candlelight along the pool’s edge, and enjoy meditative strokes through the water. Children are welcome, but all guests are encouraged to speak softly and move quietly so that tranquility and mindfulness take center stage.
