Close to the metro station: Things you (might) not know about Trianglen
About Trianglen
Line: M3
Type: Underground
Rider volume: Approximately 7,500 per day (2025)
If you get off the M3 at Trianglen, you’ll find yourself right in the heart of one of Østerbro’s most vibrant neighborhoods. The square got its name because three major roads originally converged right here—Østerbrogade, Blegdamsvej, and Øster Allé.
Today, the square is full of life and offers easy access to museums, cozy restaurants, and green spaces. No matter which direction you head from the station, you’re sure to find exciting experiences.
Here are five fun facts about Trianglen.
1. Dynamic and vibrant expression
When traveling on the Cityringen, the colors at the stations change along the way, as each station reflects the cityscape above ground, allowing you to easily keep track of where you are on your journey.
Trianglen is designed with glass panels featuring small strips of reflective glass, creating a dynamic and vibrant look that changes depending on who is at the station. When it’s busy, the many colors of soccer fans and concertgoers on their way to Parken are reflected, creating a kaleidoscopic effect, while during quieter times, the walls are completely simple and elegant.

2. Get off right by Fælledparken
Trianglen is located right at the entrance to Fælledparken, and the large gravel area by the station is intended to serve as a foyer, acting as a transition between the busy intersection and the peaceful atmosphere of Fælledparken.

3. A Short Walk to Soccer
Trianglen is the main metro station for fans heading to soccer matches at Parken, which is just a few hundred meters away, but it’s actually not always the fastest option. Depending on which section you’re going to, there might be a better route:
Are you standing by the red wall? Get off at Trianglen
Are you sitting in the A stand? Get off at Poul Henningsens Plads
Are you sitting in the family stand? Get off at Vibenshus Runddel.

4. 3 things to do at Trianglen
In addition to Parken, Fælledparken, and Østerbro’s charming shops and cafés, there are three unique experiences near Trianglen that you won’t want to miss:
1. Go flea hunting
On the gravel lot right by the exit from the metro station, Byens Lopper hosts a thrift and vintage market from April to September, where you can explore exciting flea market stalls. There’s also always a repair stand at the market where you can get small repairs done if your newly purchased pants are too long or that cool vintage shirt is missing a button.
2. ENIGMA
The beautiful old post office in Østerbro is now home to ENIGMA – Museum of Post, Telecommunications, and Communication, which is definitely worth a visit. Explore 400 years of communication history and have a blast in the arcade hall, where you can relive the computer games of the past.
3. Østerbro Stadium
FCK and major international matches at Parken are one thing, but Østerbro also has another special community: People from near and far gather to support the B.93 soccer team when they play at their home ground, Østerbro Stadium. Here, you don’t have to be a die-hard soccer fan to join in—it’s just as much about the atmosphere, natural wine, and gourmet hot dogs.
What makes Copenhagen so unique is that there are an insane number of awesome museums here. For example, we visited the Enigma Post and Telegraph Museum, which sounds a bit boring on paper, but my kids had a blast.

5. You’ll be on your way in no time
Trianglen is part of the Cityringen, providing quick and easy access to all of Copenhagen. The station connects Østerbro with key destinations such as Rådhuspladsen (10 min), Frederiksberg (4 min), and Nørrebro (8 min).
Everything is within easy reach, and the Cityringen runs every two minutes, so just hop on.
