Copenhagen has come alive, and the city is once again buzzing with life, flowers, and springtime cheer. Take the Metro to these five spots where you can enjoy the best of spring.

Enjoy the first ice cream of the season

Nothing tastes quite as much like sunshine and summer as ice cream. Luckily, Copenhagen is full of great ice cream spots—and the Metro will get you there quickly. If you get off at Nørreport, it’s just a short walk to Isoteket at Sortedams Dossering.

Isoteket makes velvety-smooth Italian gelato using organic ingredients and has been named one of Europe’s 20 best ice cream shops by The Guardian. Their gelato is unique and comes in flavors you won’t find anywhere else. Try, for example, their licorice with lemon curd, cinnamon caramel sauce, or hazelnut bergamot.

Isoteket also has locations on Stefansgade near Nørrebros Runddel and on Bopa Plads near Poul Henningsens Plads.

Watch the cherry trees bloom

Cherry Blossom Alley at Bispebjerg Cemetery is one of the most popular spots in Copenhagen if you want to see the pink blossoms in full bloom.

If you want to avoid the large crowds, you can instead take the Metro to Nørrebro and take a stroll through Den Sorte Plads, where the blossoms of the cherry trees are just as beautiful—and stand in sharp contrast to the white lines on the black asphalt.

Take the Metro to Frederiksberg and follow Den Grønne Sti, and you’ll arrive right at this lovely little oasis. In the garden, you can stroll among all kinds of plants, flowers, and trees and enjoy the fresh green shoots.

Even though cars whiz by right outside, there’s a special sense of calm in the garden, so sit in a patch of sunshine and let your shoulders relax while you breathe in the scent of spring.

Enjoy spring by the waterfront

One of the places that really comes alive when spring arrives is the waterfront along Copenhagen’s canals. Along the edge of the harbor, you’ll find the ultimate walk in Copenhagen: The Harbour Circle.

Grab your best shoes and take the Metro to Sluseholmen, where you can start your 13-kilometer ride. The ride offers a fantastic glimpse into just how diverse Copenhagen is, featuring everything from unspoiled green spaces and houseboats to new developments and architectural gems.

If 13 kilometers sounds like a bit too much, the route is designed so you can easily shorten it by crossing over at one of the many bike bridges.
