1. Sample street food from around the world

When you come up the stairs at the Frederiksberg metro station, you never know what awaits you in the food truck area in front of Frederiksberg Centret, because no two days are alike.

Some food trucks are perennial lunch favorites, while others are just passing through, so you can always discover new, authentic dining experiences.Take a seat at the cozy long tables and enjoy your meal and the urban atmosphere in the sunshine.

2. Go thrift shopping every Saturday

Hop on the Metro to Frederiksberg, and it’s just a short walk to the square in front of Frederiksberg Town Hall, which serves as the setting for the Frederiksberg Flea Market.

This large flea market opens its doors to all treasure hunters every Saturday at 9 a.m. from April through October—and there are plenty of stalls with a mix of goodies to explore.

3. Chill-out at Stella Polaris

Get off the Metro at Frederiksberg Allé and head over to Frederiksberg Garden in June, when the iconic chill-out festival Stella Polaris takes over the garden.

If you take the Metro to Frederiksberg Allé, you can enjoy the unique atmosphere on Værnedamsvej and Tullinsgade until you reach your destination Central Hotel & Café – a tiny, quaint house with a tiny coffee shop and a 12-square-meter hotel on top with just one room.

The place is owned by a local restaurateur and former set designer, who personally crafted every single handmade detail, giving it a vintage feel, a cozy atmosphere, and a 1950s vibe.

10. Visit the polar bears at the zoo

Take the Metro to Frederiksberg Allé and walk through Frederiksberg Garden to Zoo, where, among other things, you can see the polar bears up close. 

The Arctic Ring reflects the natural habitats of polar bears in the Arctic wilderness: the tundra, the glaciers of the Ice Age, and the deep-blue Arctic Ocean. This allows you to observe the polar bears both on land and swimming in the water from the suspended acrylic tunnel, and to learn more about these large, impressive animals.

11. Landbohøjskolens Have

Just around the corner from the Frederiksberg Metro station, a charming little oasis awaits. In Landbohøjskolens Have you can stroll among all kinds of plants, flowers, and trees and experience a special sense of calm, even though cars are whizzing by right outside.

The garden was established in 1858 and is now part of the University of Copenhagen. Its purpose is to provide plants for educational purposes and to serve as a green oasis for everyone.

12. Snuggle up under soft blankets and do nothing

14. Explore the underground art gallery

If you get off the Metro at Frederiksberg Allé, it’s just a pleasant walk through Frederiksberg Garden to Cisternerne – an underground art gallery where you can escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life, where time stands still, and where cell phone service doesn't reach. 

The old water reservoir is dimly lit. It is said to be the only museum in Europe where no daylight enters, and the atmosphere enchants both children and adults.

The cisterns are closed for the winter from December 1 through March.

15. Whizz down water slides

Whether you prefer lap swimming or splashing around, Flintholm Svømmehal is the right place—right by the Metro station at Lindevang.

In the family area, the air temperature is 29 degrees, and both children and adults can splash around in the family pool and get a thrill on the two water slides.

The 25-meter pool has eight lanes, the water is 27 degrees, and there’s also a fun inflatable obstacle course to try out.

18. See the statue of Countess Danner

Take the Metro to Forum and see one of Copenhagen’s newest landmarks. In 2024, Dannerhuset erected the four-meter-tall bronze sculpture of Countess Danner as a tribute to her social activism and the women's rights movement.

The sculpture was created by the sculptor Kirsten Justesen, a prominent figure in feminist art.

19. Enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of Frederiksberg Garden

If you get off the Metro at Frederiksberg Allé, just follow the elegant avenue until you reach Frederiksberg Garden.

In the garden, you can enjoy the expansive green lawns, the tall deciduous trees, the view of the royal summer palace, the many small bridges, and the Chinese gazebo, which was built as a tea house for the royal family. In the summer, you can also take a leisurely boat ride through the canals with Svendsens Bådfart.
