Turn up the Christmas spirit at the ice rink

Posted: 28. november 2024
Nothing says Christmas magic like frosty cheeks, ice skating at full speed and hot chocolate with whipped cream. Take the Metro to some of Copenhagen's cosiest ice rinks and glide out onto the ice surrounded by glittering Christmas lights.

Nostalgic ice skating in the city centre

The iconic ice rink on Kongens Nytorv is back after a 16-year hiatus to offer a special ice skating experience surrounded by the glittering Christmas lights of d'Angleterre and Magasin.

The 1,200 m2 ice rink is part of Copenhagen Winter Wonderland, which also features a small Christmas market, events and delicious gastronomy. It costs DKK 60 to get on the ice, and it is recommended to buy a ticket and book in advance. The ice rink is open until 30 December.

Don't have your own skates?

No problem - it's possible to rent skates at all the city's outdoor ice rinks for a small fee.

Go ice skating in Frederiksberg

If you get off the Metro at Frederiksberg Allé, it's not far to the popular ice rink at Frederiksberg Runddel, where you can get your skates on the approximately 1,000 m2 rink again this year.

When you run out of skating energy, you can buy coffee and hot chocolate and maybe take a stroll in Frederiksberg Gardens afterwards. It's free to get on the ice and the ice rink is open until the end of February.
