My Copenhagen: Ballet dancer Nadia Skriver Rosenby plays the title role in Tivoli's Christmas show, The Snow Queen. When she is not on stage, she loves to seek out the hidden garden behind the Glyptotek, where there is a very special tranquility.

Nadia Skriver Rosenby, 39, trained ballet dancer from the Royal Danish Ballet School, currently appearing in Tivoli's Christmas show The Snow Queen. Lives in Søborg with her husband and two children.

1. When does Copenhagen feel most like your city?

"When I'm out and about in the city every day for the Christmas show at Tivoli, I really feel like Copenhagen is my city. I love coming into Tivoli, seeing all the Christmas lights, and just feeling at home. Over the last few years, I've scaled back my dance career, so the Christmas show is the only one I participate in. That makes those two months of the year something very special."

I have a Christmas tradition with my children where, during December, I take a day off with each of them to visit all the Christmas markets we come across on our walk from Rådhuspladsen to Kongens Nytorv.

2. Which place in the city do you always return to?

"I always return to this small French pancake restaurant, La Galette, located in a small courtyard in Indre By. It is owned by a Frenchman, the menu is in French, and they have delicious French cider—everything is super authentic. I love their savory crepes, which are made with buckwheat flour, and there's always room for one of their delicious dessert crepes. We have a tradition of always eating dinner there on my birthday."

3. What is your best tip for a unique Christmas experience in Copenhagen?

"My best tip is, of course, to go to Tivoli Concert Hall and see The Snow Queen. Otherwise, I have a tradition with my children where, during December, I take a day off with each of them, and we walk down Strøget and visit all the Christmas markets we come across on the way. It's really cozy. They love looking at the beautiful handmade Christmas decorations, the smell of apple slices, hot cocoa, and roasted almonds, and all the beautiful lights."

With My Copenhagen, we take you on a surprising journey through the city, where well-known Copenhageners and local legends share their hidden gems.

4. What hidden gem in the city is almost too good to share?

"I don't know how hidden it is, but I love the Glyptotek Garden. I have used it a lot during breaks between performances. It is a peaceful and incredibly beautiful oasis in the middle of the city, where it is nice to follow the changing seasons. There is also a frightening statue of a devil-troll, which I have always been very fascinated by in connection with my work with fairy tales. The garden is located at the back of the Glyptotek and is open to everyone."

5. Which Metro station is your favorite?

“It's hard to choose just one, but I think it has to be Kongens Nytorv. I was practically born and raised at the Royal Theater, so Kongens Nytorv has always played an important role in my life.”
