Slow living: Take the Metro to small relaxing oases in Copenhagen

Need to slow down, lower your shoulders and be present in the moment? Let the Metro take you to calm, rhythm and recovery. We guide you to 6 relaxing places for both body and soul.

Snuggle up in soft duvets and do nothing

It sounds almost magical in itself. Just tucking yourself into freshly washed bed linen, closing your eyes and letting go of everything else. At Mellow Space, close to Aksel Møllers Have, you can come to SIESTA, where you get two hours where you don't have to do anything - just relax and be.

Mellow Space facilitates your rest time with a guided meditation, visualisation, sound and scent impressions and gentle self-massage, creating a collective silence that feels pleasant and liberating. Hot tea and delicious snacks will be served at the same time.

Immerse yourself with clay in your hands

Something happens when you sit in front of a lathe with a lump of clay in your hands. You can let your imagination run wild and automatically forget everything else for a while.

At Pilos CPH in Nørrebro - close to Nuuks Plads - you can get a small taste of ceramics with a one-day course or experiment with turning techniques, glazes and colours in a 5-week course. The talented ceramicist Elena Rigas will guide you all the way.

Warm up from the inside with hot yoga

Do you want to try an intense training experience that both strengthens the body and provides a sense of relaxation and well-being? At Ohmyoga in Vesterbro, you can practice hot yoga in 39 degree heat.

Take the Metro to København H and look forward to immersing yourself in hot yoga in a beautiful, inviting setting and feel how the infrared heat in the room quickly relaxes your body, muscles and joints. You can either buy a voucher for a single class or choose unlimited training.

Create inner peace with saunas and cold dips

At Plugin Heat Club, you'll be challenged with heat and cold that will leave you feeling lighter, stronger and fully charged. Take the Metro to Havneholmen and get ready for 75 minutes of three rounds of saunagus, alternating between sauna and ice-cold dips.

The experience provides inner peace and mental clarity. When the heat rises, your body panics and when the cold hits, your mind wants to run away, but instead of shutting down, you lean in and breathe.

Ride rail bikes in beautiful nature

Some things are best experienced at a slower pace, and on Amager you can take a trip through a small enclosed forest area on either a rail bike or a drainage pump.

The remaining track terrain from the former Amagerbane will be looked after by volunteers so that everyone can try a ride on the 1.2 kilometre long track. Take the Metro to Amagerbro, then it's just a short walk to the starting point on the corner of Vermlandsgade and Uplandsgade.

Amagerbanen is open every other Sunday, just turn up and pay a voluntary contribution - or you can book the track privately by sending an email.

Play with brushes and porcelain

Become a porcelain painter for a day and try your hand at the historic craftsmanship behind Royal Copenhagen's hand-painted porcelain.

For example, you can paint your own Mega Riflet thermos cup for painting school at Royal Copenhagen's flagship store near Gammel Strand. Experienced porcelain painters are ready to help with advice on mixing colours and choosing the right brushes.

You can pick up your cup in store 4-6 weeks after it has been glazed and fired.
