Jesper Binzer: "Sailing around the canals, jumping in the water and drinking canned beer is awesome"

My Copenhagen: The D-A-D rock star loves the atmosphere of the canals and the small places in the city, but often ends up with good friends at the local coffee shop on Amager. Discover the best of Copenhagen with Jesper Binzer.

Jesper Binzer, 59, musician and lead singer of D-A-D and current author of the book Flot kronhjort, where he reflects on what makes life worth living and how to set yourself free. Lives in Amager.

    1. When does Copenhagen feel most like your city?

"My good friend Søren has a big dinghy with an outboard motor and chugging around the harbour and canals, jumping in the water and drinking cans of beer with tourists and good people is pretty damn cool - that's my city. But also a summer evening at one of the art openings at Charlottenborg, where you can meet your entire cultural generation and get tipsy on orange wine in the historic surroundings, is happy."

    2. Which place in the city do you always return to?

"I have so many good friends who hang out at Ingolfs Kaffebar on Amager, so I end up there many days of the week. Pio Vinbar in Bagerstræde is relaxed, and Bar Amore on Gammel Kongevej and Fiskebaren in Kødbyen are places I return to for the great food, but also the atmosphere!"

With My Copenhagen, we take you on a surprising journey through the city where famous Copenhageners and local legends share their hidden gems.

    3. What hidden gem in the city is almost too good to share?

"The reception bar at 25hours Hotel in Pilestræde is a cheap way to travel - there's a pterosaur hanging from the ceiling! I'd love to be able to sit there in peace with drinks :-)"

    4. What is your best tip for a unique experience in Copenhagen?

"Rouge Oysters on Gammel Kongevej is a bumblebee that shouldn't be able to make us fly, but it happens time and time again..."

"I have so many good friends who hang out at Ingolfs Kaffebar on Amager, so I end up there many days of the week."

    5. Which metro station is your favourite?

"It's Øresund - home sweet home. Take a walk in Kramer's miracle (former Mayor of Copenhagen, Jens Kramer Mikkelsen ed.) - Strandparken - and dream yourself over to Sweden."

Camilla Ottesen: ‘It's a great experience to see Copenhagen from the water’

My Copenhagen: TV host Camilla Ottesen has lived in Copenhagen all her life. She loves running along the water, SUPing in the canals and finds a special peace in the city's beautiful churches.

Thomas Skov: "If you have your antennas out, there are experiences everywhere"

My Copenhagen: Podcast host Thomas Skov especially loves Copenhagen in springtime, and for him the greatest experiences are in the small things - like when the sun falls just right on Carlsberg Byen or he eats a roll at his local kebab shop with his kids.

Aura Dione: "I love cycling over Dronning Louise Bridge in the evening sun and watching the city glow"

My Copenhagen: For singer Aura Dione, Copenhagen is a city that feels like youth, love and creative chaos all at once. She is particularly inspired by Dannerhuset and the small paths of Christiania.
