Change of Throne Day
Sunday 14 January was the day of the change of throne that united all of Denmark. After 52 years, Queen Margrethe stepped down as Denmark's regent and handed over the throne to Crown Prince Frederik.
More than 300,000 Danes turned up, and the Metro quickly transported everyone between the change of throne, tribute show and carriage rides.

Opening of the Sydhavn Metro
On 22 June 2024, Copenhagen became even more connected with the extension of the M4 to Sydhavn and Valby.
The five new stations were inaugurated with a big street party and opening ceremony with HM the King, and now you can also take the Metro to Copenhagen Syd, Mozarts Plads, Sluseholmen, Enghave Brygge and Havneholmen.

The M3 line's 5th anniversary
In September, the M3 line celebrated half a decade of efficient and climate-friendly transport in the centre of the capital.
Since 2019, the M3 line has connected the city centre with Vesterbro, Frederiksberg, Nørrebro and Østerbro.

3 x passenger record
2024 was also the year with the most passengers travelling on the Metro in one month.
We set a record not just once, but three times - in September, October and again in November with 11.8 million passengers. This means that almost all Danes used the Metro twice in November.

STRØM Festival
On Saturday 24 August, Strøm Festival once again transformed a metro train into one big party, bringing music and energy to your travels.
The windows fogged and the energy boiled as the Trans Metro Express rolled through the city - packed with speakers, synthesisers and electronic artists.

Mmm... pad thai, panang curry and satay. If Thai cuisine makes your teeth water, Copenhagen has plenty of places to eat where it almost feels like you're in Thailand itself.
