Guide: Check out 5 places in Copenhagen featured in international TV shows and movies
The Bear – sæson 2 (2023)
In the critically acclaimed American hit series The Bear, an entire episode of the second season takes place in Copenhagen, as chef Marcus travels to the Danish capital in search of inspiration.
The Bear follows a group of people who, despite professional and personal challenges, are trying to get a gourmet restaurant up and running in Chicago.
One of the places featured in the episode is Poulette in Nørrebro, which has a simple yet brilliant concept: they serve juicy burgers with fried chicken or mapo tofu and fries.
Take the Metro to Nørrebros Runddel and sink your teeth into one of their delicious sandwiches.

La Casa de Papel – season 5 (2021)
The Spanish series La Casa de Papel premiered on Netflix in 2017 and has since become the streaming service’s biggest non-English-language hit. Several scenes in the fifth and final season were filmed in Copenhagen.
In the series, we follow a cool gang of robbers in red suits who pull off one wild heist after another, and in season five, the jewel thief Berlin, played by Pedro Alonso, is in Copenhagen to meet with his son, where the film crew was particularly taken with the atmosphere and the colorful houses in Nyhavn.
Take the Metro to Kongens Nytorv and follow in Berlin’s footsteps in Nyhavn.

The Danish Girl (2015)
It’s not often that Hollywood comes to our little country, but in 2015, the Oscar-winning film The Danish Girl was filmed in Copenhagen.
The film tells the story of Danish Einar Wegener’s struggle to become Lili Elbe in the 1920s, when he became the first person ever to undergo gender reassignment surgery.
Filming took place at more than 20 different locations in central Copenhagen, where the iconic yellow row houses in Nyboder help create the atmosphere of the 1920s. The film also features a few beautiful shots of the Marmorkirken (Marble Church)—though here it’s set in Paris.
Take the Metro to Østerport and stroll through the same streets in Nyboder as Lili Elbe.

Inspector Barnaby
It’s no small matter what happens in the little village of Midsomer, the setting for the popular British crime series Inspector Barnaby (Midsomer Murders). On average, 21 people die each year in Midsomer, so Barnaby has his hands full solving cases.
In episode 100, however, a mysterious murder case brings Barnaby to Copenhagen, where local cookie manufacturer Eric Calder is found dead in a hotel room during a business trip. He has been poisoned by a package of cookies originating from Midsomer.
Take the Metro to Rådhuspladsen and see the Palace Hotel, where the murder took place.

Did you know that …
Many of the major international film studios have previously passed over Copenhagen because it was not possible to obtain production subsidies. The Ministry of Culture has now changed that. Starting in 2026, 125 million kroner per year has been allocated for production rebates, which is the largest rebate in Scandinavia.
The Prince and Me (2004)
The Prince and Me is an American romantic comedy starring Julia Styles and Luke Marbly as Page, an American girl, and Edvard, the Danish Crown Prince, who fall in love against all odds.
Although the story is set in Denmark, a large part of the film was shot in Prague.
However, there are a few scenes from Copenhagen, where Julia Styles rides in a taxi past Børsen, Nyhavn, and Marmorkirken, and where the Danish prince rides into town to meet the Danish people.
Take the Metro to Marmorkirken and imagine yourself as Page, seeing Copenhagen for the first time.
