My Copenhagen: IByens advice columnist Felix Thorsen Katzenelson encourages people to get out and explore new places in Copenhagen. Even though everyone is lining up to eat, drink, and do the same things, there is much more to Copenhagen than that.

Felix Thorsen Katzenelson, 32, journalist and advice columnist at Politiken, where he writes about love and culture, as well as author of the novel Skruk skurk. Lives with his partner in Vesterbro during the winter and in Nordvest during the summer.

1. When does Copenhagen feel most like your city?

"Ironically, when I visit a place I've never been before, I remember that Copenhagen is a big city where there is still more to do and see. Even though it may seem like we're all lining up to eat, drink, and see the same things, I promise myself and all of you: There is more to Copenhagen!"

The oldest trick is to do something you haven't done before. See a play that no one has recommended, buy concert tickets at the door. Leave your regular table to someone else and just go.

2. Which place in the city do you always return to?

"Because I'm lucky enough to have an allotment garden, the city districts have seasons. Summer is based in Nordvest and winter in Vesterbro. But then again, I work at Rådhuspladsen all year round, and I'm not going to pass up an after-work beer at Pisserenden, an expensive shopping trip at Magasin's Mad&Vin, or a stroll down Faraos Cigarer for magic cards."

3. What is your best tip for a unique romantic experience in Copenhagen?

"The oldest trick is to do something you haven't done before. Have you been talking about David's Collection for eight years without ever going there? Get in there. Have you been joking about walking from Sydhavn to Nordhavn? Put on your walking shoes. See a play that no one has recommended, buy concert tickets at the door. Maybe it will be boring, but you won't die from it. Leave the regulars' table to someone else this time and just go."

With My Copenhagen, we take you on a surprising journey through the city, where well-known Copenhageners and local legends share their hidden gems.

4. What hidden gem in the city is almost too good to share?

"Herstedhøje and Vestskoven in Albertslund. We're probably a couple of city slickers who forget about the city outside zones 1 and 2. But you don't need a car to get out into nature, and it doesn't have to be Dyrehaven every time. Head out to Herstedhøje and get a real view of Copenhagen, see a sheep, have a picnic, and go for a walk in the woods. It should be packed with people out there."

5. Which metro station is your favorite?

"Skjolds Plads. When I live in my allotment garden house in the summer, this is my local station, and I love it. There's a bakery, ice cream, places to eat, shopping, a farmers' market, and space."
