About Skjolds Plads
Line: M3
Type: Underground
Passenger volume: Approximately 5,600 per day (2025)

The Haraldsgade neighborhood in Outer Nørrebro has undergone a major transformation from a disadvantaged residential area into a greener, safer, and more cohesive neighborhood—and at its heart lies Skjolds Plads, which has become the hub connecting the Haraldsgade neighborhood with the rest of the city.

Here are five fun facts about Skjolds Plads.

1. Stylish in gray

When you travel on the Cityringen, the colors at the stations change along the way, as each station reflects the cityscape above ground, so you can easily keep track of where you are on your journey.

The station space at Skjolds Plads draws inspiration from the nearby Nørre Campus of the University of Copenhagen and is decorated with silver-gray glass panels and the distinctive origami ceilings that characterize many of the stations on the M3 line.

2. Named after Norse mythology

If you get off at Skjolds Plads, you’ll find yourself right in the heart of the Mythological Quarter in Nørrebro, where streets and alleys are named after characters and legends from Norse mythology, such as Thorsgade, Heimdalsgade, and Odinsgade.

Skjolds Plads is no exception. According to the Skjoldungesaga, Skjold is the son of Odin and Rind. As a child, he miraculously arrived across the sea while sleeping on a shield and became the progenitor of the legendary Danish kings.
