Close to the metro station: What you (maybe) didn't know about Enghave Brygge
About Enghave Brygge
Line: M4
Type: Underground
Passenger numbers: Approximately 3,600 per day (2025)
In 2024, Valby and Sydhavnen gained five new stations – Enghave Brygge is one of them.
When you get off at Enghave Brygge, you find yourself right by the water in a brand new neighborhood that is beginning to emerge as a little Venice with its 11 artificial islands surrounded by canals. They create a cozy maritime atmosphere, while the many small bars, restaurants, and shops fill the neighborhood with life.
Here are five fun facts about the Enghave Brygge metro station.
1. Sci-fi art by Pernille With Madsen
Artist Pernille With Madsen has decorated Enghave Brygge metro station with sparkling light installations, abstract reliefs, and glowing onyx, which you may not notice at first glance.
The work plays with the past and future, transforming the station into a combination of a science fiction film and an archaeological find.
I hope that art can provide a different aesthetic experience, one that is on a different scale. I think you want to touch it to find out what it is.

2. The city's best cultural experience 2025
It is not only at Enghave Brygge that art catches the eye. All five stations on the new M4 line have been decorated by renowned artists who have taken very different approaches, transforming the metro stations into creative urban spaces.
In 2025, the art on the M4 line won the award for Best Cultural Experience in the City when Berlingske named the very best Copenhagen has to offer for the 25th time.
Enghave Brygge metro station makes a particular impression on me. The subtle and, in a way, magical, almost archaeological decoration by artist Pernille With Madsen is like a small museum in the middle of the city.
3. Direct access to the water
Adjacent to the station square, a wide staircase has been built down to the water, where you can sit and enjoy the beautiful view.

4. Enjoy the canal atmosphere and wonderful experiences
Enghave Brygge offers a genuine canal atmosphere with plenty of great experiences within walking distance. If you dream of authentic Italian pasta, cheese, olive oil, salami, ice cream, and wine, be sure to stop by the specialty grocery store Supermarco.
At Engholmene, you are allowed to fish with a rod in the canal, and there are many good spots where you can settle down with your rod and fishing lure. The entire area is popular among anglers because the lock at Sydhavnen generates a strong current, attracting sea trout all year round. You can also catch mackerel, garfish, and whiting.
You can't help but be drawn to the beautiful white church-like building located right on the harbor at Engholmene. This is Anløbet, probably Copenhagen's smallest wine and beer bar, where you can sit and enjoy a glass right by the water.
If you fancy a refreshing dip, Teglholm Brygge Badezone is not far away, where you can swim and splash around all year round.
From Enghave Brygge, you can also hop aboard the harbor bus and experience the city from the water. The harbor bus sails from Engholmene all the way to Refshaleøen at the other end, stopping on both sides of the canal along the way. Check the timetable here.

5. You move on quickly
Since the summer of 2024, the five new stations on the M4 line have connected Valby and Sydhavnen with the rest of the metro network.
