Catch the sun: 6 tips for secret spots in the city where you can watch the evening sun glow
Tip! Catch the sun with new app
With the Sunseekr app you can check where you can enjoy the sun right now in cafés, bars and outdoor areas in Copenhagen.
The app takes into account the season, time of day and the height of the surrounding buildings.
Between concrete bridges and skyscrapers in Nørrebro - close to Nuuks Plads - an old kindergarten has been transformed into a hidden gem of a café with a lovely patio with long tables and plenty of sun.
In addition to lunch and dinner, Lunden offers weekly events and workshops such as flea markets, beer acrobatics, poetry readings and freehand embroidery.

In recent years, one little gem after another has popped up at Skjolds Plads in the Haraldsgade neighbourhood of Outer Nørrebro, where you can take the Metro directly to a spot in the sun.
Enjoy crispy sourdough buns from Bageriet B, authentic Sicilian ice cream, a budget-friendly 5-course meal at Oberra - or just hang out in the square where there's plenty of life, good atmosphere and not least evening sun.

In Nordvest, you'll find the most beautiful little place just a short walk from Nørrebro metro station. Here, an old car repair shop has become one of the city's best spots in the sun: Autopoul.
The asphalt area in front of the workshop has been transformed into a unique courtyard with olive trees and white plastic chairs, where the sun shines all day long. Lean back in the garden chairs and enjoy the southern European atmosphere while drinking a good cup of coffee or a glass of natural wine.
Also keep an eye on Autopoul's Instagram profile where they regularly announce flea markets, small festivals and other events.

Take the Metro to Sluseholmen and hunt down the cosy little Café Slusen, housed in a small tin shed with plenty of seating in the sun, where you can almost dip your toes in the harbour.
The café itself may not look like much at first glance, but it offers natural wine, beer, coffee, Sicilian ice cream and various small dishes that you can enjoy in the authentic surroundings of Copenhagen's old lock.

The new Nordhavn district has become a small town within the city with a unique harbourfront atmosphere that is hard to match. Take the Metro to Nordhavn and head down to the unique silos – Inner Nordhavn's most iconic buildings – where you can enjoy the sun until it sets over Øresund.
The promenade at Sandkaj offers plenty of options, whether you just want to sit down on a bench, hang out at one of the cafés or take a dip in the harbour bath.

It's not such a secret, but Christianshavns Kanal is incredibly cosy – and you don't have to walk far from Christianshavn metro station.
The south side of the canal is a great hotspot for evening sun, where the light hits both the water and the beautiful colourful buildings - the perfect place to enjoy an ice cream or glass of wine on a bench or on the quayside with your feet dangling over the water.
