Aura Dione: "I love cycling over Dronning Louise Bridge in the evening sun and watching the city glow"

My Copenhagen: For singer Aura Dione, Copenhagen is a city that feels like youth, love and creative chaos all at once. She is particularly inspired by Dannerhuset and the small paths of Christiania.

Aura Dione is a 40-year-old singer and songwriter and is currently releasing her first single in Danish, Venner for Livet, which also features two Copenhagen landmarks: Børsen and Irma-hønen.

    1. When does Copenhagen feel most like your city?

"When I cycle over Dronning Louise Bridge in the evening sun and see the whole city glow. When women of all ages walk with confidence and style, as if the city is their catwalk. Copenhagen feels like a city built for freedom and the future."

    2. Which place in the city do you always return to?

"I always return to Dannerhuset. Not just as a place, but as a symbol. Countess Danner was a woman who went against the flow and created spaces for women. That inspires me deeply. Outside, her statue stands proud and strong, reminding us that we must fight for everyone to feel at home somewhere."

    3. What is your best tip for a unique experience in Copenhagen?

"Rent a small boat, bring someone you love and let the city unfold before you from the water. Sail through Christianshavn, under the bridges and all the way out to Refshaleøen. There's something wonderful about being in the centre of the city and on the water at the same time."

With My Copenhagen, we take you on a surprising journey through the city where famous Copenhageners and local legends share their hidden gems.

    4. What hidden gem in the city is almost too good to share?

"It's Christiania, but not the main street, everyone knows it. I mean the small paths behind the houses, where nature almost takes over and art grows out of the walls."

    5. Which metro station is your favourite?

"It's Marmorkirken. I love walking up from the station at Marmorkirken and being greeted by the magnificent domed room. It almost feels like stepping into a divine power centre."

Camilla Ottesen: ‘It's a great experience to see Copenhagen from the water’

My Copenhagen: TV host Camilla Ottesen has lived in Copenhagen all her life. She loves running along the water, SUPing in the canals and finds a special peace in the city's beautiful churches.

Thomas Skov: "If you have your antennas out, there are experiences everywhere"

My Copenhagen: Podcast host Thomas Skov especially loves Copenhagen in springtime, and for him the greatest experiences are in the small things - like when the sun falls just right on Carlsberg Byen or he eats a roll at his local kebab shop with his kids.
