With M3 you can quickly and easily get to Vesterbro from all over the city. From communal dining and tropical spas to sushi under the clouds, we've rounded up 15 of the best experiences and hidden gems.

Vesterbro has shaken off its shabby working-class past to become one of the hippest neighborhoods in Copenhagen with bustling streets, designer shops, new restaurants, cool bars, bohemian types, hipsters, kids and lots of beautiful green spaces.

Take the M3 to København H or Enghave Plads and explore all that Vesterbro has to offer. Get inspiration for what to eat, what to experience, where to get your heart rate up and where to slow down.

1. Eat together in Absalon

Folkehuset Absalon invites you to a communal dinner every evening at 6pm, where both children and adults are welcome to join in for DKK 60 per person. Everyone eats the same menu with or without meat.

The communal dining takes place at cozy long tables in the colorful church room, and the day's menu is served on platters and shared at the table. It's cozy, relaxed and a great way to get a little closer together.

Buy your ticket online until 16:00 on the day - and otherwise at the door.

2. Lower your shoulders in a tropical oasis

Manon les Suites' iconic Junglefish Pool is a lush tropical oasis where you'll forget all about the city life whizzing by on the other side of the walls.

Here you can just drop your shoulders, breathe and enjoy life.
Curl up on the soft loungers with a book and a cocktail or coffee, swim a few laps in the pool and let yourself disappear into the calm, relaxing atmosphere. The tropical paradise is not far from Forum, and with a Spa Day Pass you get four hours in heaven.

3. Experience the black sun over Vesterbro

In Vesterbro you'll find a little piece of Southern Jutland. On the gable of a house, South Jutland star photographer Søren Solkær has created a giant painting depicting the natural phenomenon of the black sun, where large flocks of starlings take on graphic formations in the sky - which on the gable has become a large heart.

The artwork is a gift from the cultural history organization Golden Days in connection with the 100th anniversary of the reunification of Southern Jutland with Denmark.

Take the Metro to Enghave Plads and you're almost there.

4. Eat burgers in the movie theater

It's always nice to go to the movies - and it's even nicer when the rain is whipping down outside. Copenhagen offers cinemas for all tastes, whether you're into French art films or Hollywood blockbusters.

For example, take the Metro to Enghave Plads and try the city's new cinema, Reservoir, which combines the movie experience with delicious drinks, food and snacks you can enjoy in the soft seats.

5. Spend a night in the world's smallest hotel

In the heart of Vesterbro, you will find Central Hotel & Café – a tiny picturesque house with a mini coffee bar and a 12 m2 hotel on top with just one room.

The place is owned by a local restaurateur and former set designer, who has built every single handmade detail himself, giving it a vintage, cozy, and 1950s vibe.

If you take the Metro to Frederiksberg Allé, you can enjoy the special atmosphere on Værnedamsvej and Tullinsgade until you reach your destination.

6. Listen to good stories in the dark

Take the Metro to Enghave Plads and experience the meaning of pitch darkness at Besttellers and their Stories in the Dark.

You can't see anything, and in the dark there's nothing to do but listen to the voices and stories that surround you. Eventually, you get used to it and surrender to the calm, the darkness, the poetry, the humor and the suspense.

10. Enjoy a luxurious rooftop pool

In the old post office building from 1912, the luxurious hotel Villa Copenhagen invites you inside. The rooftop terrace is a secret oasis with a heated pool, sauna and soft lounge furniture - perfect for shutting out the city noise for a while.

If you take the Metro to Copenhagen Central Station, just cross the road to check in for a day of self-indulgence. As a guest at the hotel, you have free access to all the delights.

11. Swim laps in DGI-byen

If you're in the mood for non-stop lap swimming, Vandkulturhuset in DGI Byen is the perfect place. If you get off the Metro at Copenhagen Central Station, simply cross Tietgensgade to jump into the 100 meter long elliptical pool and swim away.

13. Discover the iconic Palace - full of color

Take the Metro to Copenhagen Central Station and enjoy the special color palette of Palads, which shines in all its colorful glory. Palads is one of Denmark's largest and oldest cinemas, built in 1918.

However, it wasn't until 1989 that the building got its iconic playful facade when Danish artist Paul Gernes was allowed to wield the brush. If you want to enjoy the beautiful colors, you might not have to wait too long, as Nordisk Film has had plans to demolish Palads since 2017.

Designed by BIG, the two towers really stand out on the skyline and are well worth a visit. There is an open house every Thursday and Sunday.
